Regina is a successful French actress. However she is ultimately
dissatisfied with her life and craves attention, love and fame - not
just for now, but for all time. During a tour of the provinces, she
encounters the mysterious Fosca, and is instantly attracted to him. At
first their relationship is passionate and turbulent but it is not long
before Regina again becomes restless and her acting ambitions take
