Censorship Guide

Office of Film and Literature Classification
The "OFLC" is responsible for implementing the Australian Government's censorship policies. Most movies are required to have a censorship rating, and some movies cannot be sold to teenagers below a certain age.

Click on the heading above to see all the ratings that can be found on movies released in Australia. These labels were redesigned in 2005 to be more prominent on the DVD packaging and to provide more precise imformation about what the movie contains.

Parents may find the categories useful when deciding if their children should be allowed to watch a certain movie.

The symbols on the web page are a guide only, the symbols when shown on an actual DVD cover will provide guidance about drug use, nudity and violence for that specific movie.
